Founded in 1576. This well-established restaurant in Rakuhoku originated as a tea house on the Wakasa Highway. Boasting tea-ceremony cuisine and glorious views overlooking the Takano River.
Located in the northern part of Kyoto City, "Rakuhoku" is a place with a historical atmosphere and many world heritage sites. Please enjoy the delicious food that famous writers such as [Natsume Soseki] ate here. ◇◆A ryokan inn founded in the Tensho era◆◇ Our inn was founded about 450 years ago during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, when it began operating as a roadside teahouse on the Wakasa Kaido (commonly known as the Saba Kaido). It is said that travelers at that time devoured "barley rice and grated yam," which is still a specialty today, before setting off on their journey. With this kaiseki meal, you can also enjoy the specialty "barley rice and grated yam soup." ◇◆Kamaburo - Traditional Japanese steam bath -◆◇ "Traditional Japanese steam bath (Japanese-style sauna)" is rarely seen these days. The temperature inside the kamaburo is 55-60℃. A straw mat and straw mat are laid in the hollow of a huge kamado (stove), a ceramic pillow is brought on top of it, and you lie down to warm up. The temperature is lower than in a regular sauna, so there is less strain on the heart and muscles, so you can enjoy it leisurely for 20-30 minutes.
