Local flowers bloom along the small spring water rivers here at Samegai-juku, one of the post stations on the Nakasendo Road that connected ancient Edo to Kyoto. Welcome to this renovation of an Edo-period travelers' inn.
Guesthouse Isamean is a small inn built in a fully renovated 200-year-old house in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture, a post town on the old Nakasendo road. The nearest station is Samegai Station, which is one stop away from Maibara Station on the Shinkansen line on the Tokaido Line. It is about a 10-minute walk from the station along the old road. The atmosphere of the building is the same as that of an old post town, and the interior is comfortable and clean. All rooms are air-conditioned. We welcome people from Japan and abroad for various purposes, such as walking the old Nakasendo road, climbing Mt. Ibuki, and Biwaichi. Right in front of the inn is a stream that collects spring water and makes the dainty flowers of the baikamo (Japanese plum blossoms). You can enjoy the view of the stream flowing along the post town from your room. The rooms are pure Japanese style with a tokonoma alcove. These are the type of rooms where you sleep on a futon laid on top of the tatami mats. The charm of this accommodation is that you can experience the atmosphere of the old highway while still enjoying the comforts of modern times. This is a plan with no meals included in a room with a maximum capacity of 2 people. This is a simple and reasonable accommodation plan that allows you to experience the atmosphere of a post town from the past.

This plan includes two meals, dinner and breakfast, for a stay in a simple old-style house. Dinner is a menu that makes generous use of local ingredients, with a focus on fish dishes, including fish caught by the manager himself around Lake Biwa. Breakfast is a simple menu that also includes miso soup made with miso made in the same village.
