What do you need to bring when renting a car?

  • Required items when renting a car

    You'll need your credit card, passport, and an international driving permit deemed valid in Japan under the Geneva Convention. If more than one person is going to drive, each person must present an international driving permit. In general, Japanese rent-a-car companies require payment via credit card; most overseas credit cards are accepted.
