Fukuoka Airport is the largest airport in Kyushu, with flights to all regions of Japan and many international flights connecting to cities throughout Asia.
It offers easy access to tourist attractions in Fukuoka Prefecture and other parts of Kyushu. With easy access to the expressways from the airport, renting a car is a convenient way to explore the area.
- Sightseeing and activities

A short 15-minute drive from Fukuoka Airport will take you to the Hakata area. Explore Kushida-jinja Shrine, learn about the history of this trading town at Hakata Machiya Furusato-Kan, and enjoy shopping at Canal City Hakata, a large shopping and entertainment complex. A rental car offers the advantage of storing your shopping items, making your shopping trip more pleasant.
A 20-minute drive from Fukuoka Airport will take you to the Tenjin and Nakasu areas, where you will find many yatai (food stands) that serve mouthwatering street food at night.
The Dazaifu area, home to the famous Dazaifu Tenman-gu Shrine, Kamado-jinja Shrine, and Sakamoto Hachiman-gu Shrine, is also just a 25-minute drive via the expressway from the international terminal.
You should be able to visit different destinations in Kyushu in one day by taking the Kyushu Expressway, which runs through the whole island. For example, a journey from Fukuoka Airport to Kagoshima City via the expressway takes about three hours and 20 minutes.

To get to the International Terminal coming from the Tenjin/Hakata Station area, take the Enokida Exit. If you are coming from the Dazaifu area, take the Hanmichibashi Exit.
