Although there is an airport in Kumamoto Prefecture known as Aso Kumamoto Airport, it only serves international destinations to South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. For travel from other countries, Fukuoka Airport, with its more frequent routes and flights, is a good option.
It takes about an hour and 50 minutes to reach Kumamoto City from Fukuoka Airport using the expressway, and about two hours and 20 minutes to Mount Aso.

Enjoy the spectacular view of Mount Aso, one of the world’s largest active volcanoes, and drive to the crater-viewing area on Mount Aso Park Road. This scenic spot is also a 50-minute drive from the airport.
If you want to have an exceptionally relaxing time, consider the Kurokawa area, which is known for its hot springs. It only takes an hour and 20 minutes from the airport.
