The Niigata City Marathon is a major autumn road race that threads together the port city’s most recognizable scenery. The 2026 event takes place on Sunday, October 11, with a full marathon, fun run, and universal run that welcomes runners of different levels. The full marathon starts at Denka Big Swan Stadium and finishes at Niigata City Athletic Stadium, crossing the city from its sporting district toward the Shinano River and central waterfront.

The route is one of the race’s biggest appeals.
