Tokyo Joypolis is a three-story indoor amusement park in the Odaiba district, operated by video game heavyweight Sega. Joypolis is known for its interactive tech-fueled attractions, including thrill rides with digital enhancements and virtual reality games.
As Japan’s largest indoor theme park (last time we checked) it’s perfect for rainy days. And it’s an appealing option for families, Odaiba explorers, and anyone wanting to test Japan’s reputation for cutting-edge tech entertainment. They sometimes have tie-in events with trending anime series like Attack on Titan or Demon Slayer.

Tokyo Joypolis stands out thanks to the integration of technology in the rides, blending digital and real-world experiences. Beside the thrills provided, this gives a taste of the high-tech entertainment that Japan is known for — but not as omnipresent across Tokyo as you may think. Its regular events, shows, and tie-ins with famous games and anime also give visitors a glimpse into Japanese pop culture. Highlights incude:
Gekion Live Coaster: Combines the thrill of a high-speed ride with the challenge of a rhythm game. Riders tap along to pop music while navigating the twists and turns of the coaster, with their rhythm game score tallied at the end. A dynamic blend of music, speed, and competition.
Halfpipe Tokyo: Resembling a skateboarding halfpipe, this ride promises similar exhilaration without the effort. Stand on a board that swings back and forth, controlling it with your feet for a fun “spin battle” game that’s both cooperative and competitive.
Wild River the Treasure Hunt: A water-based thrill ride that takes you for an adventure through rapids full of with unexpected turns and splashes. Simulates the chaos of a wild rafting expedition, perfect for those who love a mix of excitement and water fun.
ZERO LATENCY VR: A multi-player, free-roaming, virtual reality game. Battle zombies, robots, or other foes with up to five friends in a super-immersive shoot-em-up using cutting-edge headsets and VR technology.
Of course, being 100% indoors makes Joypolis perfect for rainy days. If the weather lets you down, change up your itinerary on the day and visit Odaiba.
Another advantage over other theme parks is the location in Odaiba, paired with the free re-entry. You can come and go as you please, check out other Odaiba attractions, then get back to the games if you want more. Being in the mall Decks Tokyo Beach, six floors of shopping, dining, and entertainment options are in each reach. Nearby sights like the life-sized mecha statue at Gundam Base are must-see inclusions to an Odaiba itinerary.
Spanning three floors of the DECKS Tokyo Beach complex, Tokyo Joypolis has more than 20 rides and attractions under one roof. The thrill rides and interactive games are great for older kids and the young-at-heart, and games at a slightly slower pace feed the family fun.
The six attractions on the first foor include the innovative multilayer shootiong game Zero Latency VR, and the Gekion Live Coaster with its rhythm game feature. There are also interactive games like Pirate’s Plunder and Spicy Taxi, which the whole family can enjoy together.
On the second floor, visitors will find five attractions, including the competitive Tower-Tag VR e-sports and the classic House of the Dead series. Thrill-seekers can also enjoy the Storm G and Transformers experiences.
The third floor ramps up the excitement with adventure rides such as Wild Wing, Wild River the Treasure Hunt, and Wild Jungle Brothers, each offering a guided, exhilarating adventure.
