"Fusion of tradition and modern feeling inherited from ancient times" Dogo Onsen has a history of about 3,000 years and is said to be one of the three ancient hot springs in Japan. The Sushiya Ryokan (currently "Funaya") opened in the Dogo area during the Kanei era (around 1627) during the Edo period. Since then, it has been loved as a travel inn for many people for more than 390 years. While valuing tradition and making the most of the formalism, if it is good, we will actively introduce new ones to entertain our customers. That is Funaya's heart. It is also used by many celebrities such as Soseki Natsume, Shiki Masaoka, and Eiichi Shibusawa.

A garden with a stream, Cuisine that focuses on local production for local consumption and a sense of trust as a royal residence We have been patronized for 390 years since our founding with our heartfelt and polite hospitality. The setouchi kaiseki cuisine is prepared by carefully examining seasonal ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea by our head chef. Please enjoy it slowly in your room. *For groups of 7 people or more, we will prepare a separate private room banquet hall. ■ One day's dinner menu [menu example] ■ Aperitif Isole or Black Vinegar Dipped chrysanthemum greens on top (shrimp, conger eel, wood ears, Shirotae-gake) Raw octopus with sleet (Chinese yam, green soybeans) Sashimi Today's Recommendation (Two or Three Kinds) Grilled sea bream turnip (shiitake mushrooms, carrots, green flesh, yuzu citrus) Dainomono Kamasu Yuan-yaki (Iyobijin sweet miso sauce, Mukago masui sea urchin grilled) Stewed Wagyu Beef with Autumn Leaves (Maitake Mushrooms, Lotus Roots) Deep-fried Sagoshi Tatsuta-age (pumpkin, red Kirara) Mixed Miso Soup Rice: Funaya-style sea bream rice Fruit seasonal *Since we use seasonal ingredients, the menu changes according to the season. ■Breakfast■ Choice of "Japanese meal" or "American breakfast" *We will ask you after your arrival. ●Long-established Ryokan Funaya in Dogo● Experience 390 years of hospitality that has continued since the Edo period (Kanei era). A natural river flows through the Japanese garden (former Kagetsu-tei), which was visited by Soseki Natsume and Shiki Masaoka. You can enjoy the seasonal atmosphere with all five senses along with the murmuring. ``Shigurekeri for the first stay at Funaya'' Natsume Soseki ``Tei Tokoro Dokoro There is a bridge over the valley. ●Dogo Onsen Main Building● (5 minutes on foot) Dogo Onsen Honkan is the only hot spring bathing facility designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. It is also designated as a national important cultural property, and was selected as a "3-star" in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. The appearance, which is said to be the model of "Spirited Away", creates an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you have slipped back in time. (We are currently undergoing seismic reinforcement work, but you can take a bath in Kami no Yu on the 1st floor.) ★A hot water basket (with soap and towels) is available at the entrance for free, so please bring it with you.
