Hakusan, one of Japan's three sacred mountains. In a dream of Daishi Taichō, who was undergoing rigorous training at Mount Hakusan, the Hakusan Daigongen deity appeared and revealed the existence of a sacred spring hidden deep underground. Following this divine revelation, the Daishi traveled to Awazu, unearthed the sacred spring, and instructed his disciple, Garyō Hōshi, who had always been by his side, to build a hot spring inn and entrusted him with its care. This marked the beginning of 'Hōshi'. After the death of Garyō Hōshi, his adopted son Zengorō became the second-generation successor, and since then, the inn has been uniquely managed by a single family for 46 generations, continuing to preserve the hot springs to this day. --------------------- ■ Regarding cancellation fees This plan has a different cancellation policy during Golden Week, Obon, and the New Year holiday season compared to the standard policy. 6 to 14 days prior: 10% 4 to 5 days prior: 30% 1 to 3 days prior: 50% Same day or no-show: 100% [Certified Ryokan by Awazu Onsen Tourism Association]
