[Standard] Relaxing time in a samurai residence [Room only]

■About the facility■ RITA Izumi Roku is a "distributed hotel" consisting of three buildings and six rooms in three samurai residences, "Miyaji Residence", "Tsuchimochi Residence", and "Kato Residence", which are scattered around Izumi Roku, the largest samurai residence group in the Satsuma domain. Regardless of the room you are staying in, please come to the "Miyaji Residence" (18-35, Rokucho, Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture), where the front desk is located, to check in. -Characteristics of old houses- - Although the rooms are fully equipped with heating and air conditioning, they are less airtight and insulated than modern buildings. - Sounds from the next room may leak out, and insects may get in. - The damage and traces that have occurred over the years of the building are also left as part of the accumulated history. -No TVs or clocks- We do not provide TVs or clocks in the rooms because we want you to enjoy a leisurely time. ■Meals■ This is a "room only" plan. If you would like breakfast, please select the plan with breakfast. For dinner, staff will recommend local restaurants upon request. ■Other points to note■ ・For reservations of 3 or more people, futons will be provided instead of beds. ・Telephone inquiries are accepted from 9:00 to 18:00. ○Check-in: 15:00-18:00 ○Check-out: until 10:00 ■Parking■ Free parking is available for up to one car per room. ■About Izumi Roku■ During the Edo period, the Satsuma clan prepared for attacks from outside enemies by setting up outer castles (tojo) around the main castle, Kagoshima Castle, and housing samurai groups in these castles. This was a unique system of the Satsuma clan, known as the outer castle system, and even today, there are still many samurai residences in the center of the outer castles, known as "fumoto," all over Kagoshima Prefecture. Among them, Izumifumoto, located on the border with Higo Domain, was one of the most important bases for the domain's defense, so during the Edo period, an outer castle (=Fumoto) was built with meticulous planning and a powerful samurai group was stationed there. Izumifumoto, the largest group of samurai residences in the Satsuma Domain with such a history, has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government, and still retains the history walked by the Satsuma samurai and the beautiful scenery that has continued since those times.
