Tsubara is a small townhouse built nearly 100 years ago, within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Gion. You can enjoy the open-air bath and suikinkutsu, which can be rented exclusively for one group. It's like grandma's house in Kyoto... like something out of a movie... even though it's your first time here, it feels nostalgic and comfortable. The time you spend at Tsubara will surely be engraved in your memories of Kyoto. Kodai-ji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Sanjusangendo, Gion, Pontocho, and Kiyamachi are also within walking distance. Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, famous for the statue of Kuya Shonin, which you may have seen in your textbooks, and the Kawai Kanjiro Memorial Museum are just 2-3 minutes away! Zen meditation at Kennin-ji Ryosokuin Temple (5 minutes walk) (reservations required on the Ryosokuin website) and early morning visits to Kiyomizu-dera Temple are also wonderful! There are many famous places within walking distance of Tsubara, and it is full of the essence of Kyoto! The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities you need so you can make simple dishes.
