The scene of Onihei Hankacho(the most famous Samurai police story in Edo), a great thief Amagoi Shouemon hid himself in Umegashima spa. Shotaro Ikenami, an author of Onihei Hankacho, was pleased with a wild boar pot, during his stay at our hotel about 50 years ago. We reproduced a special wild boar pot, given soy flavor, Shotaro Ikenami favorite one. You can enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine, a wild-boar pot, tempura, a fresh water fish, buckwheat noodles, and so on. Our ryokan appears in the famous Onihei Hankacho (Chapter of Amagoi Shouemon) Umegashima Onsen is said to have been a remote hot spring resort in a remote mountain valley where the great thief Shoemon hid for three years while recuperating. We have recreated the dishes that the author, Shotaro Ikenami, enjoyed during his stay at our inn (in 1955): Soy sauce-based wild boar hotpot (botan nabe) with ayu (sweetfish), yamame fish, and trout from the river. How about enjoying mountain village kaiseki-style cuisine with the atmosphere of Edo, such as fish dishes, small bowls of country soba noodles, and more? The hot spring, of course, is a legendary sulfur hot spring that has continued to flow for 1,700 years. (The dining area will be the dining room, not the room.) Please note that a bathing tax of 150 yen per person will be charged separately.

The reserved room type is a Japanese and Western room without a toilet. Those who call to confirm the reservation can preferentially change to a room with a toilet.

The address is Shizuoka City, but it is a remote area that goes north to the prefectural border with Yamanashi Prefecture. Please give yourself plenty of time.

If you are likely to arrive after 6 pm, please let us know as it is fine on the day.

The forest road from the direction of Minobu in Yamanashi is often closed, so be sure to check it.
