Hakusan, the Hakusan Daigongen appeared in the dream of the monk Taicho Daishi, who told him about a sacred spring hidden deep underground. Following the divine message, the monk traveled to Awazu and dug up the sacred spring. He had his disciple, the monk Masaaki, who had been his close friend, build a hot spring inn and entrust it with the care of the hot spring, which marked the beginning of the "monk". Known as a poetic novelist, Katai Tayama, a literary figure who left behind masterpieces such as "Country Teacher," wrote that "Awazu Onsen was the quietest and most comfortable" in his "Hot Spring Tour," in which he walked around hot springs all over Japan. After getting tired from walking around after sightseeing, or after work or a business trip, take a deep breath and enjoy the hot springs to your heart's content for just one night, relaxing.
