Chikuma City Chikuma City is Japan's top apricot-producing area. A soft and hazy apricot flower field, like a veil of blossoms.Spreading across gentle mountain slopes at an elevation of 380–450m, the area offers an unobstructed view and becomes even more beautiful when in full bloom.Every spring, approximately 200,000 visitors come to enjoy viewing these flowers. From the highest vantage point, the 'Uehira Observation Deck,' to the 'Kuboyama Observation Park,' visitors can also enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain ridges like Togakushi Mountain and Iizuna Mountain on clear days. After enjoying the flower carpet from the high ground, taking a leisurely walk along the small paths among the fields allows you to appreciate the delicate apricot flowers up close. By late June to mid-July, the apricot flowers turn into fruit, and visitors can enjoy apricot picking at the same location. It's amazing how the pale pink small flowers transform into plump orange fruits that resemble a baby's bottom.Just imagining it makes me feel happy. Nagano Prefecture ranks first nationwide in the production of 'apricots,' and among the production within the prefecture, Chikuma City produces the most, earning it the title of Japan's number one apricot region. Using only fully ripened apricots sourced locally (from Chikuma City), boiled down to perfection. The key to its popularity lies in the refreshing flavor that highlights the apricot's natural tartness.
