Stay at a cool highland pension and walk the 110km 'Shinetsu Trail' with a lodging plan that includes transportation and two meals. Why not start by walking Section 1 (Madarao Mountain to Akaike, 8.5km) and Section 2 (Akaike to Wakui, 10.7km) within the Madarao Highlands? Transportation is included from the pension to the starting point of each section and from the finishing point of each section back to the pension. Transportation from Iiyama Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen to the pension is also available. The trail, which traverses along the ridgeline of the Kaida Mountain Range stretching northward from Madarao Mountain at an elevation of about 1,000 meters above sea level, is an 80km long trail to Tenmizuyama. In September 2021, it extended to 110km reaching Naeba Mountain. In the winter, it is a heavy snow area with snowfall exceeding 5 meters, featuring rich natural environments such as beech forests and satoyama landscapes that retain a strong presence of culture and history. The old and ancient paths of this satoyama have been restored and are maintained as a long trail. It is Japan's first long trail and continues to promote the culture of long trails from here. While walking, you can connect with nature and learn ways of life from it. It is composed of 10 sections, and transportation is provided for Section 1 (Madarao Mountain to Akaike), Section 2 (Akaike to Wakui), Section 3 (Wakui to Hotokegamine Trailhead), Section 4 (Hotokegamine Trailhead to Kaida Pass), Section 5 (Sekita Pass to Fushino Pass), Section 6 (Fushino Pass to Tensuizan), and Section 7 (Tensuizan to Morimiyanohara Station). Sections 8 to 10 can be arranged upon consultation. How about splitting the entire route into several parts and walking them? For detailed information about the 'Shinetsu Trail,' please refer to the 'Shinetsu Trail Club' website. Why not invite everyone and take on this nature-rich long trail?
